XP95 Addressable Optical Smoke Detector The XP95
optical smoke detector uses a LED to produce light pulses and a photodiode mounted at an angle that normally does not see these pulses. Under clean air conditions, no light falls on the photodiode, and the detector produces a low-level analog signal. When smoke enters the detector's sensing chamber and causes light to reflect onto the photodiode, the analog signal level increases. This signal is processed by an electronic circuit and converted into a digital signal.
